Welcome Reception in the Old Chapel. Chancellor Subbaswamy and Director Autio will welcome you back to Stockbridge. We'll have historical exhibits, a cocktail reception, music by local bluegrass band Mamma's Marmalade, and the opportunity to catch up with old friends.

Registration
The $75 registration fee includes any and all events throughout the weekend - the Friday Welcome Reception, Saturday Morning Bus Tour, Saturday Lunch, Saturday Afternoon Campus Tour and/or Saturday Centennial Gala. During registration you will select the events and tours you will attend.

HOW TO REGISTER

LATE & CANCELLATION FEES
Register early! Any registration and/or payment received after September 21, 2018, will be assessed an additional $40.00 late fee. Any cancellation received by the close of business (5 p.m. ET) on September 28, 2018, will be issued a refund less a $30.00 cancellation-processing fee. All cancellations must be submitted to the Registration Office in writing by way of email or fax (registration@umass.edu, 413-577-8130). Cancellations received after the close of business on September 28, including no-shows, will be ineligible for a refund.

There are many lodging options in Amherst and the surrounding area, from independent hotels to familiar chains to local B&Bs. Lodging is not included in the cost of registration. AGRICULTURAL LEARNING CENTER 
In 2013, we began using 75 acres of land immediately north of the Amherst Campus as an easily accessible Agricultural Learning Center. Many student- and faculty-led projects are ongoing. Highlights include the Student Farming Enterprise, the Utility Arboretum of short statured trees project was funded by Eversource, Dutch Elm Disease research, and the first State Apiary researching issues related to honey bee health pollination and hive management. Tour the UMass Student Farm with our student guides. The tour will start at of the newly moved/rebuilt 1894 horse barn.

HADLEY FARM
The Hadley Farm is about a mile from campus, just on the other side of Route 116 from the stadium. It provides the educational site for our intensively hands-on Livestock Management and Equine Management programs as well as the animal management programs of the Department of Veterinary & Animal Sciences. The tour will view the Bay State Morgans, goats, pigs and sheep.

JOSEPH TROLL RESEARCH CENTER 
Our turfgrass research facility is one of the best in the United States. The site for numerous studies of fine turf, including innovative management strategies to enhance water and nutrient efficiency, and reducing chemical inputs in highly managed turf systems. Current studies include selecting top grass cultivars for lawn, golf, and sports fields; utilizing constructed wetlands to recycle wash water at turf facilities, and surface characteristics of natural grass tennis courts. Join the faculty and students for a tour of this facility.

LEVI STOCKBRIDGE HOMESTEAD 
The  Levi Stockbridge Homestead is in Hadley, about two miles from Stockbridge Hall. This 18th century farmhouse has been beautifully restored. Join the Mokrzecky/Grace family for a tour of the home of one of the founding fathers of the Massachusetts Agricultural College, the first professor of agriculture, and the individual in which whose honor our school was named.

COLD SPRING ORCHARD RESEARCH & EDUCATION CENTER 
Our research and teaching orchard is situated on 200 acres in the southern part of Belchertown. About 50 acres are planted to fruit crops, mostly apples. The tour will begin in the orchard at the best time of year and end tasting of numerous apple varieties, fresh cider blends, and hard ciders.

UMASS CAMPUS BY BUS 
Tour the changing Landscape of the University by Bus. Experience UMass/Stockbridge history through its iconic buildings and hear about the future of the flagship campus as you tour the university’s changing landscape. This is a non-walking tour.

CAMPUS TREE WALK 
World renown and UMass alumnus Michael Dirr will lead a tour of some, more significant and beautiful trees of the UMass campus. Mike is one of the best known woody plant specialists in the world, and this tour will be a treat. This walk is at a brisk pace. Note: This tour has now reached capacity.

CNS GREENHOUSES
The new CNS Greenhouses were built in 2011 and are a wonderful example of sophistication in greenhouse management. Explore this silver rated LEED facility.

JOHN OLVER DESIGN BUILDING
The Olver Design Building opened in January 2017 and has received much praise. It’s a wooded structure that represents unique design concepts and is the home of our Landscape Contracting major. The tour will showcase the rain gardens, the green roof, design studios, and other interesting features.

STOCKBRIDGE INTERNS CAMPUS PROJECTS 
Since 2010, the UMass Landscape Management Division has provided on-campus internship opportunities to Stockbridge School of Agriculture students. Explore the past and present internship projects. Highlights will include the restoration of the campus pond, the pollinator garden and the newly installed songbird garden. The tour will require a brisk walk through campus.

COLD SPRING ORCHARD RESEARCH & EDUCATION CENTER

ALPHA TAU GAMMA FRATERNITY HOUSE
Many Stockbridge alumni are members of ATG. Drive your car to 118 Sunset Ave., Amherst or walk past the south side of campus and visit the current ATG house with the students in the active chapter.

DURFEE CONSERVATORY
As a student, you very likely took some time to visit Durfee Conservatory to see the beautiful collection of plants. We are sure that sometimes it was just a very nice (and warm) stop on the way through campus on a winter day. The director will be available to answer questions about this historic conservatory. Short walk from the Design Center.

PAIGE LAB
Originally opened in 1950, the building was completely renovated and reopened in August 2014 as the new central home for the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. The renovation brought the 60+-year-old building up to modern standards with several well equipped research laboratories, LEED certification, and the main offices of the School. Drop in between 2:00 and 4:00PM and visit with graduate students and members of the faculty who are conducting some exciting research.

WAUGH ARBORETUM
The Waugh Arboretum will be open throughout the weekend for self-guided tours. The Waugh serves as a living laboratory for Five-College and University research in landscape architecture, botany, horticulture, forestry, ecological restoration, and plant sciences, with modern collection policies that aim to invigorate sustainability standards across campus.

BLUE WALL
Stop by the recently renovated Blue Wall, located in the Campus Center, to see why UMass Amherst has been ranked #1 Best Campus Food in America for three years in a row! Featuring 10 different stations served a-la-carte, menu options include pizza, salads, wraps, deli sandwiches, sushi, burgers, burritos, gelato, and more, ensuring that the Blue Wall has something to satisfy every palette.

Event Location
The conference will be held at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Welcome Reception on Friday, October 5, will be held right on campus in the Old Chapel. On Saturday the lunch will be held in the atrium of the new John Olver Design Building and the Centennial Gala will be held in the Student Union Ballroom. Saturday tours will be held at a variety of locations both on and off campus (click the "Saturday Tours" tab to learn more!). 

Complimentary parking will be available in the Campus Center Parking Garage, located at 1 Campus Center Way, Amherst MA 01003. After 5 p.m. on Friday and throughout the weekend complimentary parking will also be available in Lot 65 near Stockbridge Hall. To park in Lot 65 be sure to arrive after 5 p.m. on Friday and avoid any spaces marked as reserved/restricted. Click here to view an interactive campus parking map.

Parking
Campus Center Parking Garage
Parking is available in the Campus Center Parking Garage. For GPS purposes, the garage is located at 1 Campus Center Way, Amherst, MA, 01003. Campus Center Way is off of Commonwealth Avenue, across the street from the Mullins Center. After turning onto Campus Center Way stay to the left to go up the hill. You will see the garage entrance on your right. Take a ticket at the entrance gate and park. We recommend attendees follow the "Hotel/Campus Center" signs to park down on Level 2. There is a flat accessible walkway into the Campus Center on Level 2. Alternatively, attendees can park on Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 and use the Northeast or Southeast Stairwells to access outdoor campus paths leading to the Campus Center.

New this year - the garage is now automated! After you park take your gate ticket inside with you. Once you arrive to the conference you will be provided with a parking coupon for the garage (one per day of attendance). As you leave each day, but before you get to your car, stop at one of the pay stations located on each floor of the garage. Enter your gate ticket and, when prompted, scan the QR code on the pass we provided. This will validate your gate ticket at no charge. You can then go to your car and exit the garage, entering your validated gate ticket into the kiosk at the garage exit to raise the gate.  

Accessible Parking
Vehicles displaying a state-issued disabled placard or license plate may park in any marked Reserved Accessible Space, any regular unreserved space, or any parking meter at no charge. All vehicles, regardless of disabled placards or plates, must pay when parking in the Campus Center Parking Garage. We recommend looking at the Parking Services interactive Parking Map: click the blue "P" icon on the top right of the map and click off "Handicapped Parking" to locate accessible spaces around campus.

Lot 65
After 5 p.m. on Friday and throughout the weekend complimentary parking will be available in Lot 65, the surface lot located near Stockbridge Hall. To park in Lot 65 please be sure to arrive after 5 p.m. on Friday (or anytime on Saturday or Sunday) and avoid any spots marked as "Restricted" or "Reserved". We recommend looking at the Parking Services Interactive Parking Map: click the blue "P" icon on the top right of the map and click off "Lot Numbers" to locate Lot 65.

By Car
Attendees should park in the Campus Center Parking Garage, located at 1 Campus Center Way in Amherst, MA 01003. If you are being dropped off we still recommend using this location/address as your destination: there is a circle (Flint Circle) just past the garage entrance where guests can be dropped off. Click here to get directions from your location!

From the South, via I-91 North
Take Exit 19 in Northampton. From the exit ramp, stay to the right to merge onto Route 9. Travel approximately 4.5 miles to Route 116 North. Turn left onto 116 and go one mile to the UMass Exit. Stay to the right as you exit to merge onto Massachusetts Avenue. Take a left at the second set of lights onto Commonwealth Avenue. Travel on Commonwealth Avenue until you reach the first set of lights - you will see the Mullins Center, the large sports/entertainment complex, on your left. At the lights take a right onto Campus Center Way, staying to the left to go up the hill. The garage entrance will be on your right.

From the North, via I-91 South
Take Exit 25 in Deerfield. At the end of the ramp turn left onto Routes U.S. 5/10/116. Follow until the lights and then turn right to stay on 5/10/116. Go one mile and turn left onto Route 116 South. Follow Route 116 South for eight miles to the UMass exit. Turn left at the stop sign. Take a left at the second set of lights onto Commonwealth Avenue. Travel on Commonwealth Avenue until you reach the first set of lights - you will see the Mullins Center, the large sports/entertainment complex, on your left. At the lights take a right onto Campus Center Way, staying to the left to go up the hill. The garage entrance will be on your right.

From the North, via I-93 South
Follow I-93 to I-495 South. Follow to Route 2 West. Continue on Route 2 to U.S. 202 South. Follow for about 15 miles to the blinking light at the Pelham exit marked “Route 9 and 116 Amherst.” Turn right and follow for seven miles to Amherst center. Turn right onto North Pleasant Street. Stay on North Pleasant Street until you arrive on campus. Stay left to turn onto Massachusetts Avenue. Follow Massachusetts Avenue until the first set of traffic lights. Turn right onto Commonwealth Avenue. Travel on Commonwealth Avenue until you reach the first set of lights - you will see the Mullins Center, the large sports/entertainment complex, on your left. At the lights take a right onto Campus Center Way, staying to the left to go up the hill. The garage entrance will be on your right.

From the East or West, via I-90
Travelers have a choice of four routes:

  • Off Exit 8 (Palmer/Ware): Follow Route 32 South to Palmer. Take Route 20 West to Route 181 North into Belchertown. Turn onto Route 9 West to Amherst. Follow Route 9 through the center of Amherst. Take a right onto University Drive. Travel to the end of University Drive and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue. Get into the left lane and take a left onto Commonwealth Avenue. Stay in the right lane and at the first set of lights turn right onto Campus Center Way. Follow signs to the Parking Garage.
  • Off Exit 7 (Ludlow): Follow Route 21 North to U.S. 202 North to Route 9 West to Amherst center. Travel through the center of Amherst. Take a right onto University Drive. Travel to the end of University Drive and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue. Get into the left lane and take a left onto Commonwealth Avenue. Stay in the right lane and at the first set of lights turn right onto Campus Center Way. Follow signs to the Parking Garage.
  • Off Exit 5 (Chicopee): Follow Route 33 North to Route 116 North to Amherst center. Turn left at the light onto Route 9 West. At the bottom of the hill stay in the right lane and take a right onto University Drive. Travel to the end of University Drive and take a right onto Massachusetts Avenue. Get into the left lane and take a left onto Commonwealth Avenue. Stay in the right lane and at the first set of lights turn right onto Campus Center Way. Follow signs to the Parking Garage. 
  • Off Exit 4 (West Springfield): I-91 North to Exit 19 to Route 9 East to Amherst. Travel approximately 4.5 miles to Route 116 North. Turn left onto 116 and go one mile to the UMass exit. Stay to the right as you exit. At the second intersection take a left onto Commonwealth Avenue. Stay in the right lane. At the first set of lights take a right onto Campus Center Way. Follow signs to the Parking Garage.

By Plane
The closest airport is Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut (near Hartford). Bradley is approximately 45 miles/50 minutes from the UMass campus. Logan Airport in Boston is approximately 90 miles/2.5 hours from the UMass campus. Both airports feature car rental agencies and a variety of shuttle services, including Valley Transporter (413-253-1350) and Seemo Shuttle (413-586-1120 or 800-908-2829). We recommend booking a shuttle service early to guarantee availability. 


By Bus
The Amherst area is serviced by Greyhound, Peter Pan Bus Lines and the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority. Use "Amherst UMass" as your destination (the Amherst Center stop is about 1.5 miles from the UMass Campus). 


By Train
Train service is available to Springfield, MA, and Northampton, MA. You will then need to take a taxi or car service to the UMass campus. Search the  Amtrak site for more details and to purchase tickets. 


Shuttle & Car Services
We strongly encourage guests to make their reservation for all car and/or shuttle services early! Please use the UMass Campus Center (1 Campus Center Way, Amherst MA 01003) as your destination.


Local Transportation
There are multiple transportation options to get you from campus to amenities and attractions in the surrounding area. Amherst center, with local shops, restaurants, and small convenience stores, is a 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from campus. If you find you need to visit a grocery store, large retail store, or pharmacy during your stay, numerous options are located on University Drive and Russell Street (also known as Route 9) in neighboring Hadley, about a 5-10 minute trip from campus by car or bus. Retailers include CVS, Big Y, Stop and Shop, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Target, Walmart, JC Penney, Marshalls, and more. 

Local buses, operated by the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority, run regularly between Amherst center and the University, with additional services traveling throughout the Pioneer Valley, including Northampton, Springfield, and Greenfield. If you'd rather take a car, UMass has partnered with Zipcar to bring on-demand car sharing services right to campus. The area is also serviced by a variety of cab companies, including UberLyftCelebrity Cab Company and  Taxi Express.

CAMPUS CENTER EATERIES

The hot bar often features Indian, Ethiopian, traditional American, and many other world cuisines, and the salad bar is always stocked with in-season ingredients and freshly prepared composed salads. Additional highlights include a Chobani yogurt bar, all natural and organic snacks, local cheeses and deli meats, grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, and a made-to-order juice and smoothie bar. Need a quick pick-me-up or caffeine fix? People's Organic Coffee, located on the main concourse of the Campus Center across from Harvest Market, serves People's Organic Fair Trade coffees, as well as a variety of specialty coffee beverages, organic teas, locally baked pastries, fresh cookies, salads and paninis.

UNIVERSITY CLUB
The University Club and Restaurant, more fondly referred to as The UClub, is the eminent fine dining establishment at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Housed in two colonial era New England farmhouses, the University Club and Restaurant offers a contemporary dining experience steeped in historic charm. Long established as a private faculty and alumni club, the University Club offers the public and campus community a full-service restaurant & lounge featuring local beer, wine, and farm-fresh ingredients. Our food trucks, Baby Berk and Baby Berk 2, are great options for a quick and convenient meal. Serving freshly prepared food truck fare, including burgers, wasabi steak tacos, grilled cheeses, tater tots and sweet potato fries, you are sure to leave satisfied. Area Dining
Looking to head off-campus for a meal? There are so many wonderful and convenient options! Downtown Amherst, located about a 5 minute drive/25 minute walk from campus, has many unique restaurants, with fare ranging from Thai, Chinese, Italian, American, Indian and more. Some longstanding downtown favorites include Antonio's pizza by the slice, Judie's (try a popover), Bueno Y Sano, and Johnny's Tavern. About 5 minutes in the other direction, heading down University Drive, you will find some more popular local spots including The Hangar Pub and Grill, Rafters and Ginger Garden. Travel just a bit further (7 - 10 minutes from campus) and you will reach the Route 9/Russell Street area of Hadley, which is replete with familiar chains and fast-food spots including Friendly's, Panara, Chili's, Wendy's, Chipotle, Texas Roadhouse and more. Visit downtown Northampton, about a 25 minute drive from campus, to explore the many restaurants and shops that make up this artistic, academic and countercultural hub.
