UMass Amherst COVID-19 Response
As of June 2, 2021, consistent with the Massachusetts Governor’s lifting of all COVID restrictions with the exception of face coverings (see below), the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus is lifting COVID restrictions related to events and programming. The below best practice recommendations remain in place. Any updates to University policies, procedures and/or restrictions between now and October will be provided to registered attendees as additional information is received. Visit UMass Amherst Response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for resources and updates on the University's COVID-19 response, including the latest campus news and comprehensive information.

  • Attendees should stay home if they are feeling ill, particularly, if they are experiencing COVID symptoms such as: temperature over 100.3F; new loss of smell or taste; muscle aches; sore throat; cough; shortness of breath; chills; headache; fatigue; congestion or runny nose; gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite; been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or been placed in quarantine for possible contact with COVID-19 unless you have been fully vaccinated (2 weeks past your final shot); been asked to self-isolate or quarantine by a medical professional or local public health official.
  • Hand sanitizer will be made readily available to attendees.
  • Venue permitted capacities will not be exceeded.
  • Guests should follow the University's Face Covering protocols. Fully vaccinated individuals will no longer be required to wear a mask or physically distance on campus, both outdoors and indoors. Fully vaccinated individuals who prefer to continue wearing face coverings are welcome to do so. Individuals not yet fully vaccinated will be required to wear face coverings in indoor settings and when they can’t socially distance. Such individuals may remove their face covering only in a private office when alone. Someone is considered fully vaccinated under these conditions: two weeks after your second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. Face coverings are still required for all individuals on public and private transportation systems (including ride shares, PVTA) and in healthcare facilities such as University Health Services.
