Rates and Availability
There are two affordable on-campus residence hall lodging options available for IASC conference attendees to book using this online page. The Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community (CHCRC) offers single or double occupancy bedrooms in an air-conditioned, suite-style building, with each suite accommodating a total of 4 guests in a variety of bedroom configurations. If you select a single occupancy room, you will have a bedroom all to yourself, but will share the rest of the suite (a common area and bathroom) with other IASC attendees. If you select a double occupancy room, you will share a bedroom with another IASC attendee, and the rest of the suite (a common area and bathroom) with additional IASC attendees. The other option is our traditional-style, non-air-conditioned residence hall rooms, available in either single or double occupancy. A single occupancy bedroom will offer you a bedroom all to yourself, with a shared bathroom down the hall. A double occupancy bedroom will offer you a bedroom shared with another IASC attendee, with a shared bathroom down the hall.
Linen packs containing two flat sheets, a pillow with case, a thin blanket, and two towels will be provided and automatically charged to your account for an additional $15.00 fee. Please see below for more information.

Cancellations received after 4 p.m. on May 30, including cancellations made after arrival and no-show reservations, will be ineligible for a refund.

Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community (CHCRC) Residence Halls
The air-conditioned CHCRC residence halls house four people per suite. If you select a double occupancy bedroom, you will share a bedroom with one other attendee, along with a shared common area and one shared bathroom with up to three other attendees. If you select a single occupancy bedroom, you will have a bedroom all your own, but will share a common area and bathroom with up to three other attendees. The bedrooms are furnished with a twin bed, desk, and bureau per each registered guest. Each guest will be provided with a linen pack consisting of two flat sheets, a pillow case, two towels, and a thin blanket (linen packs are $15.00 each and this fee will be automatically charged to your reservation). Coin-operated laundry facilities are available nearby. While toilet paper will be provided, no other toiletries or amenities are available or included within the room. Those who select to stay in CHCRC will be placed in a suite with other IACS attendees. If you have any specific suitemate and/or roommate requests, please be sure to indicate such on the reservation page. If you do not request suitemates or a roommate, you will be housed with other conference attendees by gender and selected dates of stay. This housing option is the close to the hub of conference activities (~0.3 miles). It’s worth noting that these are very modest dwellings with simple furnishings (i.e.: the mattresses are not pillow-top), and are not equivalent to hotel accommodations.
Please note: upon check-in you will receive a room key and building/suite access card, which must be returned at check-out: failure to return your key or card will result in a $100.00 lost key charge and/or $25.00 lost access card charge, automatically assessed to the card provided at the time of your reservation. Credits will not be given for any keys or access cards returned after the departure date. For additional information on CHCRC lodging please contact the UMass Conference Services at 413-577-8102 or registration@umass.edu.

Traditional Residence Hall
A non-air-conditioned, traditional-style residence hall building will also be available for IASC attendees. This lodging option is more typical of what you might expect when imagining a dormitory style accommodation, consisting of hallways with simple bedrooms, with shared bathrooms on the floor, and shared lounge areas in the building. Single occupancy rooms accommodate one guest, while double occupancy rooms accommodate two guests. In each room there is a twin bed, bureau and desk per guest. Each guest will be provided with a linen pack containing two flat sheets, a pillow with case, two towels, and a thin blanket (linen packs are $15.00 each and this fee will be automatically charged to your reservation). Shared single-gender bathrooms are located on each floor and rest rooms and public areas are cleaned daily, Monday through Friday. No additional amenities or toiletries are provided, and because the buildings can get hot we recommended guests bring a small desk-top fan.
Please note: upon check-in you will receive a room key and building access card, which must be returned at check-out: failure to return your key or card will result in a $100.00 lost key charge and/or $25.00 lost access card charge, automatically assessed to the card provided at the time of your reservation. Credits will not be given for any keys or access cards returned after the departure date. For additional information on CHCRC lodging please contact the UMass Conference Services at 413-577-8102 or registration@umass.edu.

Accessibility
Click here to view the campus accessibility map. Individuals with any accessibility needs should provide their requirements and/or accessibility needs on the reservation page (you will see a clearly marked box asking for this information on the online registration form).

Please make note of all accessibility needs when you complete your reservation and be as detailed as possible. For specific accessible information on residence halls bedrooms, common areas, and/or suites please contact UMass Conference Services at 413-577-8102 or registration@umass.edu, or view the campus accessibility map.

What to Bring
We encourage you to bring anything that will make your stay more comfortable! Below are some suggestions based on our knowledge of the buildings and feedback from previous guests.

- A $15.00 fee will be automatically added to your reservation. This will provide you with a linen pack containing two towels, two flat sheets, a pillow with case, and a thin blanket.
- Previous guests have found it helpful to bring an extra blanket and/or a soft mattress pad as the mattresses are on the thinner side.
Summer in New England can be unpredictable and June can range from quite warm (80s to 90s) to chilly (50s). It can be rainy, too, so we suggest you check the area's forecast before your arrival and pack accordingly!
UMass Amherst is a large campus. It may take 10 - 15 minutes to walk from your assigned building to various conference locations so we recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing, including a rain jacket or umbrella. For those who would prefer, you may drive to park in the more centrally-located Campus Center Parking Garage for a fee, or utilize PVTA buses to travel around campus. Click here to take a look at a campus map.
- The IASC Conference will p
rovide you plenty to do, but for any downtime please keep in mind that there are no televisions in the residence halls. You may therefore want to bring some books, playing cards, or a laptop or tablet with access to streaming services.

Please keep in mind these are residence halls occupied by students during the academic year: when the students move out they take their belongings with them, leaving only the furniture and kitchen appliances!

For guests staying in CHCRC
- The suites are air-conditioned and some guests find them to be a bit cold, so we encourage you to bring a sweater, sweatshirt, and/or extra blanket.
There are no additional amenities or appliances in the bedrooms: cots and cribs are not available, and bedrooms are not equipped with microwaves, refrigerators, or televisions. Your bedroom will have a bureau where you can store your folded clothes, but note that there are no hangers, irons, or ironing boards provided.
Suites do not have kitchens but, depending on your building assignment, there may be a shared kitchen available for use during your stay (more details will be available as June approaches). If you wish to prepare your own meals or find some snacks, there is a Target, a Walmart, and a variety of other grocery and convenience stores located within a 10 minute drive from campus (also accessible by PVTA bus). Click here for additional area retail information.
The living area has a couch and chairs, but the room does not have a television or cable access. You may want to bring a laptop or tablet so you can connect to the internet and/or streaming services during any downtime.
There is a shared bathroom with a shower, but guests should be sure to bring all of their own toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a hair dryer. Because the bathrooms are shared with suitemates, some guests find it useful to bring a portable shower caddy, robe, and/or shower sandals.

For guests staying in a traditional residence hall
- The traditional residence halls are not air-conditioned and can get hot, so we recommend keeping an eye on the weather and packing accordingly. If possible, bring a desktop fan.
Single-gender bathrooms are on each floor and will be shared with other guests (none of the bedrooms have a private bathroom), so many guests bring robes, shower caddies and sandals for the shower.
Guests should also be sure to bring all of their own toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer. Only toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms.

Need something during your stay?
Check-in times and locations are still begin finalized. Updates will be posted here and an email will be sent out to each attendee as the conference draws closer. There will be a UMass Summer Conference Housing desk clerk located in the lobby of your building (or a building nearby) around the clock to assist you as needs arise. Whether you are staying in CHCRC or a traditional residence hall, stop by and see the desk clerk for assistance! Find you forgot to pack something? Below are some local retailers located close to campus.
